Under the money and the gist, Lagos Life is a Sims-style needs game. A Sim with red bars works badly, socialises badly and gets sad. This page covers the machinery.
The six needs

Drain is per in-game hour. Traits change it: Clean Pikin drains Hygiene 35% slower, Lazy Bone drains Energy 30% slower, Owambe Spirit drains Fun 30% faster. Better furniture refills faster (a big TV gives 40% more Fun per minute than a basic one).
Needs are also why you can't just grind gigs forever: Carry Load costs 12 Energy and 10 Hygiene each time, and Help at the Buka costs Hygiene and Fun.
Moodlets
Moodlets are temporary feelings from what you do. Each has a mood value and lasts a few hours. A few everyday ones:

Perks
Blessings come from promotions (3 each), course certificates (3 each) and daily streak rewards. Spend them on permanent perks:

Fast Learner (+20% to every skill) and Hustle Juice (+25% work performance) are the money picks. Connected saves 10% on everything in Buy mode, which adds up fast if you decorate.
Sickness and hospitals
Sims can fall ill:

- Self-medicate for ₦1,500, or buy agbo from Iya Agbo at Balogun.
- Check-up (₦2,500) or injection (₦8,000) at the General Hospital (Lagos), the National Hospital or FMC Jabi (Abuja), or UPTH (Port Harcourt).
- A serious illness left alone for two days lands you in hospital: admission is ₦15,000.
