Reading the map
Lagos is split by the lagoon: the mainland (Ikeja, Yaba, Surulere, Mushin) sits above it, and the Island, Victoria Island, Ikoyi and Lekki sit below, with the Atlantic at the bottom. Most cheap homes and the student life are on the mainland; the clubs, the casino, the golf club and the expensive homes are on the Island side. Ride time grows with distance, so a Yaba home makes CcHub and UNILAG almost free to reach, while a Lekki home puts you next to Elegushi Beach and The Palms.
Abuja and Port Harcourt are separate maps you reach by flight or night bus. Abuja has the most venues of the three cities, from Aso Rock to Jabi Lake; Port Harcourt is built around the oil economy, the markets and the waterfront.
