Staying Out of Jail and Off the EFCC List in Lagos Life

What gets you arrested, how fines, cells, bail and lawyers work at the Eko Police Division and the Lagos High Court, what triggers an EFCC file, and how rich players keep their money safe.
3 min read

Lagos Life has a full justice system: police, cells, bail, lawyers, a High Court at Igbosere and an EFCC that audits rich players. Most new players meet it by accident, usually after trying the ATM hack at CcHub. This guide covers how it works so you can avoid it, or at least get out cheaply.

What counts as a crime

Some activities at venues are tagged as crimes. Each has a catch chance, a fine and a cell time:

There is also robbing other players, which can land you in court, and Quilox raids, where police sometimes sweep the club and question people (big spenders get pulled in first).

Look at the numbers before you try anything. The petty crimes pay small and are caught half the time. The ATM hack pays the most but is caught 70% of the time, with a fine bigger than its best payout.

When you get arrested

You are taken to the Eko Police Division (or the local police in Abuja and Port Harcourt) and get three choices:

  1. Pay the fine and walk out immediately.
  2. Sit in the cell. No fine now, but you wait out the time. While inside you can eat the cell food, sleep on the mat, play cards with cellmates, do push-ups (Fitness), clean the cell for good behaviour, or pay bail to leave early. Bail runs from ₦2,000 to ₦1,000,000 depending on the case, and friends can pay it for you.
  3. Call a lawyer. You pay a fee and get a court date at the Lagos High Court a few minutes later. Win and you walk; lose and you serve half the time. A lawyer's base chance is 50%, and the Good Lawyer perk cuts sentences by 25%.

There is also a "Settle the Officer" option in the cell. It is exactly what you think it is.

Whatever you choose, the arrest goes on your police record. A record makes later EFCC trouble more likely.

The Lagos High Court

The court at Igbosere handles your criminal cases and lawsuits between players: robbery, attempted robbery, unpaid Hustle jobs and more. Dates are set a few days ahead and you get reminders; miss the hearing and you lose by default.

You can also visit the court for fun: watching a trial, squeezing into a celebrity case and practising closing arguments all train Charisma, and Help at the Legal Aid Desk (Charisma 3) is a paying gig.

The EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is the in-game watchdog for money. It opens a file on you for one of five reasons:

  • Unexplained wealth: your money jumps suddenly (roughly over ₦100 million).
  • A lifestyle audit: you spend heavily (big nights at Quilox, golf club bottles).
  • Big transfers out: you send large sums to other players.
  • Money passed straight through: cash comes in and goes out quickly, like laundering.
  • Your police record.

The richer you are, the stricter it gets. Accounts above certain net-worth tiers face audits more often, can have assets frozen, and pay bigger lawyer fees. When a file opens you get a window to respond; a lawyer can settle for a cut of the money in question.

During launch week, players who received trillions from exploits and mass gifting reported frozen accounts and seized property. That is the EFCC system doing its job.

How to stay clean

  • Grow money you can explain. Salary, gigs, businesses and land sales are all normal.
  • Do not accept huge gifts from strangers. It feels like a blessing and reads like laundering.
  • Do not bounce money around. Sending a friend ₦10 million is fine; moving billions in and out daily is not.
  • Skip petty crime. A ₦30,000 pickpocket is not worth a record.
  • Keep a lawyer fund. If you are rich, assume a file will open one day.

If you are already in trouble

  • In a cell with no money: ask friends to pay your bail, or wait it out doing push-ups and playing cards.
  • Facing court: show up on the date, and if your Charisma is decent, a lawyer is usually worth it.
  • EFCC file open: respond inside the window. Ignoring it is how assets get frozen.
